SECTION 25
HOME NURSING.
Home Nursing.
Prior to 5th July, 1948 all home nursing in the area was
undertaken by Essex County Nursing Association, a voluntary
organisation subsidised by the County Council. Since that time
the responsibility for the provision of home nursing has been that
of the County Health Authority, by whom the home-nursing staff
are now directly employed.
I therefore submit for information the following summary of
home nursing in Leyton undertaken by nurses attached to Essex
County Nurses' Training Home, Beachcroft Road, E.11, from "the
appointed day" until 31st December. In doing so I should like
to express my personal appreciation of a public service which has
not in the past received a great measure of the public appreciation
it has deserved. During my tenure of office in Leyton I have had
ample opportunity of seeing the great amount of general nursing
help given in Leyton homes by Beachcroft Road nurses and of
realising the appreciation of their services by local doctors.
This home nursing has been undertaken quietly and efficiently by a nursing staff whose chief reward has been their pride in work well done and their satisfaction in the knowledge that their work has been appreciated.
