Services to be Accommodated.
A subsidiary health centre should accommodate at least the
routine medical, dental and nursing services connected with the
County Council's arrangements for the supervision and care of
pre-school and school children, expectant and nursing mothers.
Such accommodation should include rooms for
School medical service—
(1) Minor ailments clinic.
(2) Doctor's consulting room.
Child welfare service—
(3) Weighing room.
(4) Doctor's consulting room.
Dental—
(5) Dental surgery.
(6) Dental recovery room.
General—
(7) Store room.
(8) Dispensary and clinical testing room.
(9) Clerk's room.
(10) Stalf room.
It is clear that the existing six rooms cannot provide the
accommodation outlined in the above list. I have therefore conferred
with the Borough Surveyor, who is preparing plans and estimate
of structural alterations which will be necessary to provide the
minimum accommodation.
Recommendations.
1. That arrangements be made for the establishment of
a Subsidiary Health Centre in the premises at 135, Dawlish
Road, Leyton, which were used by the Public Assistance
Committee as a Relief Station prior to 5th July, 1948.
2. That the adjoining house be used to provide residential
accommodation for members of the staff of the health department.
3. That the health centre provide the necessary facilities
in connection with the medical, dental and nursing services of
the Health and Education Authorities to serve the area of
the Borough comprising Central North and Central South
Wards.
4. That authority be given for the structural and
decorative work necessary to adapt the premises for these
purposes, and for the purchase of the necessary furniture and
equipment.
