Puerperal Pyrexia.
Twenty cases of puerperal pyrexia were notified during the
year.
The causes of pyrexia were considered to be:—
Urinary infection 3
Broncho-pneumonia 1
Not known 9
Influenza 2
Pyelitis 1
Retained placenta 1
Organisms other than hæemolytic streptococci 3

Obstetric Consultant.
The advice of the Council's Consultant Obstetrician was
sought on four occasions during the year.
Maternity Mortality.
There were 3 maternal deaths of Leyton residents during
the year.
Medical Aid.
In accordance with the Rules of the Central Mid wives' Board,
a midwife must notify the Local Supervising Authority within 36
hours of every occasion on which she sends for medical aid.
Three hundred and twenty-seven such notifications were received.
Fees paid to Doctors.
Two hundred and seventy-five accounts were received from
general medical practitioners for assistance rendered to midwives
under the provisions of the Medical Practitioners (Fees) Regulations,
1936. The total amount paid to medical practitioners during the
year was £419 9s. 6d.
