During the year 18 sessions of the Post-Natal and Gynaecological
Clinic were held. The number of new patients who attended
was 157, out of 274 who received appointments to attend (= 66
per cent.). Of these, 119 were post-natal (i.e., they had had
confinements within the previous three months); and 38 were
gynaecological.
The disposal of these cases was as follows:—
Discharged after one "attendance 76
Re-attended for examination and treatment 81
The total number of attendances was 273. The average
attendance per session was 15.16—with a maximum of 22 and
a minimum of 8.
Free medical prescriptions were issued in 65 cases at a total
cost of £17 12s. 2d.; and 13 prescriptions were issued for payment
by the patients.
The following are the main conditions which have been found
on examination:—
Subinvolution of the uterus 14
Cystocele and rectocele 5
Retroversion of uterus 16
Anaemia 4
Defective perineum 8
Cervical erosion 4
Vaginitis 1
Sterility 3
Fibroid 3
