Public Health Act, 1936. Child Life Protection.
On 1st January, 10 foster mothers and 11 children—and at
the end of the year 8 foster mothers and 8 children—were subject
to inspection.
The Council's Child Protection Visitors made 58 visits of
inspection during the year.

Ante-Natal Clinics—
Attendances.—
First Attendances. Subsequent Attendances. Total.

The average number in attendance at the Ante-Natal Clinics
held at the Council's two Centres during 1945 was 13.63 per session.
The number of home visits made by Health Visitors to
expectant mothers during the year was 124.
Maternity Beds.
One thousand and five patients were admitted during 1946
under the terms of the agreements with Mothers' Hospital, Clapton,
Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford, and Forest Gate Hospital.

There are two registered nursing homes in the Borough.
Seven inspections were made to these institutions during the
year.
