Many requests were received for assistance in destroying
wasps nests but for reasons which have already been explained
these could not be met; applicants were referred to a private
operator.
Disinfection.
In accordance with current practice terminal disinfection
of premises or personal property is no longer carried out except
in the case of the more serious infectious diseases of which
tuberculosis is a typical example. All library books however,
which have been in infected premises are disinfected before they
are returned to the library.
Facilities for the steam disinfection of bedding are available
when required at St. John's Hospital, Uxbridge, but it has
not been necessary to use these facilities during the year.
Ponds, Ditches, Watercourses, etc.
The routine inspection of these sites for rodent infestation,
pollution, general nuisances and mosquitoes was carried
out on a reduced scale and remedial action taken where necessary.
