Milk Distributors
During the year the number of registered milk producers
reduced from 9 to 6 and the number of dairy premises from 19 to
10. 177 shopkeepers are, however, registered for the sale of milk
from their premises, plus six milk vending machines sited outside
shop premises.

The number of licences granted by the Council during the
year, together with the total number valid until 31st December,1970
are shown in the following table. All these licences will be
subject to renewal for the new 5 year licensing period 1st January,
1971 to 31st December, 1975.

Greater London Council (General Powers) Act. 1968-Part VII—
Night Cafes
Two applications for registration as night cafes were
received during the year. Che of these was in respect of a change
of occupier of one of the three applicants outstanding at the end
of the previous year and has, therefore, to go through a rather
lengthy administrative procedure. Of the other two 1969 applications
one was refused and the other—which was the subject
of extensive structural alterations to the premises—should
achieve finality early in 1971. The remaining 1970 application
should also be resolved early in 1971. These registrations are
in respect of premises which it is proposed to keep open later
than 11.0 p.m.
Late Night Refreshment Houses Act, 196 9
This Act, which came into force on 1st January, 1970,
consolidates the Refreshment Houses Acts, 1860—1967 and
makes certain corrections and improvements to the law relating
to refreshment houses. Basically it can be said that this Act
now applies nationally most of the very comprehensive conditions
required for night cafes under Part VIII of the Greater London
Council (General Powers) Act, 1968 and which, of course, only
