Education.
No specific effort in this district of health education
was undertaken, as it is felt that individual talks to
mothers at the clinics and at the homes of the people by
Health Visitors, result in more lasting benefit than
spasmodic efforts. Some years ago this Council decided
in principle to hold a health week and exhibition when
the proposed town hall was in being.
The medical and nursing staff on occasions give
lectures to organised bodies on health matters.
The practice of sending out birthday cards accompanied
by appropriate pamphlets to reach infants on the
first anniversary of their birth has been continued.
There is no evidence to show that the restriction of
sending cards only on the first birthday has in any way
curtailed the efficiency of this method of propaganda.
