Birth Control Clinic.
A Birth Control Clinic under the auspices of a
voluntary committee is held once a fortnight. The
Local Authority makes a per capita grant to this body for
persons who attend in whom pregnancy would be detrimental
on medical grounds. During the year payments
amounting to £10. 2s. 6d. were made for this purpose.
Supervision of Midwives.
The number of Midwives who notified their intention
to practise during the year 1938 was 47, and the number
practising at the end of the year was 26. The routine
inspection and special investigations are undertaken by
the Medical Officer of Health.
