Tents, Vans and Sheds.
Taking the district throughout, little difficulty is
experienced with regard to the control of these structures.
Cases are continually occurring where gypsies
occupy sites in the area which are not provided with the
amenities required. It has on several occasions been
necessary to take steps to get them removed. The
co-operation of the Police has been of great assistance in
this matter.
Camping Grounds and Moveable Dwellings.
There are four camping grounds in the district.
Systematic inspections are carried out during the period
of occupation and conditions were found to be
satisfactory.
Licences have been granted in respect of two sites
under Section 269 of the Public Health Act, 1936.
The estimated maximum number of campers
resident in the area at any one time during the summer
season of 1938 was 250.
Hairdressers' and Barbers' Premises.
41 premises are registered in the district and receive
regular visits by the Sanitary Inspectors. The register
has been compiled under byelaws made under Section
87 of the Essex County Council Act, 1933. No difficulty
has been experienced with regard to the administration
of these byelaws.
Shops.
The Shops Act, 1934, came into operation on 30th
December of that year and Section 10 of the Act provides
for the provision and maintenance of suitable and
sufficient ventilation, sanitary conveniences, lighting,
washing facilities, facilities for taking meals and the
maintenance of a reasonable temperature. During the
