year 98 inspections were made and a total of 270 visits
was paid. One certificate of exemption under Section
10, Sub-Section 6 of the Shops Act, 1934, was granted
in respect of premises in the district.

Swimming Baths.
The swimming bath at Valence Park still attracts a
large number of persons, and the demand for swimming
facilities has been so great that the Council decided to
build a swimming bath in the southern part of the
district; this was completed and opened during 1939.
Schools.
There is nothing of outstanding importance to
mention with regard to school premises which are nearly
all of a modern type and well equipped.
