year 98 inspections were made and a total of 270 visits
was paid. One certificate of exemption under Section
10, Sub-Section 6 of the Shops Act, 1934, was granted
in respect of premises in the district.
The following table shows the number of notices served and complied with in respect of the requirements of Section 10 which are administered by my Department:—

Swimming Baths.
The swimming bath at Valence Park still attracts a
large number of persons, and the demand for swimming
facilities has been so great that the Council decided to
build a swimming bath in the southern part of the
district; this was completed and opened during 1939.
Schools.
There is nothing of outstanding importance to
mention with regard to school premises which are nearly
all of a modern type and well equipped.
