Treatment
Of 13,708 children referred for treatment (including
specials) 9,773 (71.3 per cent.) were treated and 5,199 (37.7
per cent.) cured completely, compared with 13,753 referred, 7,950
(57.8 per cent.) treated and 5,669(41.2 per cent.) cured in 1959.
Treatment sessions rose from 2,556 to 2,868, chiefly on account
of extra sessions worked by a locum dental officer during
the last quarter.
Until the needs of each respective area can be more effectively
met, all available energy is being concentrated on the
provision of an adequate basic treatment.
Children whose mouths show them to be specially prone to decay
are placed on a rota for more frequent call-up and are not
required to wait until the next school inspection.
