In paying my usual tribute to the work of the staff, I
recognise that delays in filling vacancies increased the burdens
in most sections. Failure to obtain staff is a universal complaint
and no vocation, profession, trade or unskilled calling
seems able to attract sufficient recruits. Viewed against this
background we appear to do at least as well as most other areas.
Training schemes for various national qualifications were being
operated in the department to help to meet local and general
demands. In supporting these and other measures which require
an understanding and farsighted view, the Committee continued to
give their unfailing encouragement and support, for which I take
this opportunity of expressing my appreciation.
I am,
Yours faithfully,
S.L. WRIGHT.
Medical Officer of Health
and Principal School Medical Officer.
