DRAINAGE AND SEWERAGE.

There is a system of surface water drainagein the Borough, discharging as follows:—

The Beddington Sewage Farm has an area of 690 acres, of
which 484 acres are irrigable, and the South Norwood Sewage
Farm has an area of 189 acres, of which 130 acres are irrigable.
REFUSE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL.
I have to thank the Borough Road Surveyor for the following
summary of the method of refuse removal and disposal:—
Collection.—The collection of house refuse is by direct labour,
and on an average 17 motor vehicles are engaged—15 5-ton steam
and 2 3½-ton electric. The general collection is once weekly; and
at hotels, boarding-houses, and certain business premises daily or
two or three times weekly according to circumstances.

Disposal.—Approximately 140 tons of refuse are collected daily, the disposal being as follows:—
