PUBLIC MORTUARY.
A small decrease occurred in the number of bodies received
at the Public Mortuary at Chislehurst, but the work of reception,
of preparing the bodies for post mortem examination and
arranging details of disposal, continue to occupy a considerable
proportion of the time of the disinfectors.
Refrigerated accommodation for six bodies is provided and
this would appear to be just sufficient.
The number of bodies received during 1959 was 158 of which
75 came from hospitals in the district.
Post mortem examinations were carried out in all cases and
inquests were held on 19 bodies.
