INFANTILE MORTALITY.
During the year 38 Deaths were registered as occurring in
Infants under one year of age (19 males and 19 females). Of
these there were 37 legitimate and one illegitimate children.
The Infantile Mortality Rate was equal to 36 per thousand
registered births, as compared with 47 last year.
The Infantile Mortality Rate for England and Wales was
53 for 193S and 58 for 1937.
DEATHS AT DIFFERENT AGES.
Deaths in Children Between One and Five Years.— During
tho year 9 deaths were registered as occurring in children
between the ages of 1 and 5 years. This is equal to a Death
Rate of 0.14 per thousand of population.
Deaths in Persons of 65 Years and Over.— The number of
deaths occurring in persons of 65 years and over was 243.
This is equal to a Death Rate of 3.9 per thousand of population
and comprises 46.1 per cent, of total deaths.
