The following Table supplies particulars of the premises and the occupations in the district which are controlled by Byelaws or Regulations:—

Bakehouses.129 inspections and visits have been made of these premises. Five defects were remedied upon notices being served.
Fried Fish Shops78 inspections have been made of these premises.
Meat Shops (Butchers)278 inspections and visits were paid to these premises. One notice was served and the defect was remedied.
Other Meat Shops122 visits were made and the meat, chiefly bacon, was found to be kept under good conditions.
Places where food is prepared.34 inspections were made.
Shops where food is stored214 inspections have been made of these premises.
SlaughterhousesThese premises were visited on 841 occasions when slaughtering was in progress. During the year 21,195 carcases were inspected. One notice was served and this was complied with.
Ice-Cream Shops59 inspections have been made of these premises.
Premises where animals are kept.No contravention of the Byelaws was found during the year.
Stables (Manure Pits)69 inspections were made of these premises. One notice was served upon an occupier.

OUTWORKERS.
Notices are received, chiefly from London Boroughs, of persons
employed as outworkers, in this area; 13 inspections were made
as a result of these notices, and all the premises used were found
to be in a satisfactory condition.
LEGAL PROCEEDINGS.'
Proceedings were taken in three cases during the year: two
were under the Shops Acts:—
(1) Three fruit pies were exposed for sale when "unsound
and unfit for the food of man." A penalty of £5 Os. Od. was
imposed in respect of each pie and £3 3s. Od. costs were
allowed.
