are in store. This is not as it should be, especially as the Corporation now returns to
the owners the residual value, less expenses, &c., on all meat, other than diseased meat,
ex cold stores, and owners should bear in mind the fact that the Public Health Act
gives power to prosecute in any case where meat is deposited for the purpose of sale for
human food and not reported to the Sanitary Authority.
The following table shows a considerable reduction of the quantity of unsound
food destroyed in the cold stores, but does not show the amount of disagreeable work
performed by the Inspectors in the examination of some classes of food, an example
being the frozen tongues examined during cold weather in the stores.
