FACTORIES.
These places have been inspected as usual during the year, but it should be
mentioned that the responsibility of the Local Authority with respect to the general
arrangement of Factories is limited, their principal duty being in respect to the provision
of suitable and sufficient water-closet accommodation for persons of both sexes employed,
and the abatement of general nuisances under the Public Health Acts.
Any defects remediable under the Factory Acts, which are discovered in the course
of inspection, are referred to H.M. Inspector of Factories, and 37 cases were so dealt
with.
