FACTORY AND WORKSHOP ACT, 1901.
FACTORIES, WORKSHOPS AND WORKPLACES.
The work under the above Act continues to steadily increase.
The premises registered now number 3,985, and represent 8,031 workrooms, &c.
A new register is made each year, containing only such information as is necessary
for the current year's work. This has been found advantageous in facilitating the work
of inspection, as well as for reference, all the premises being entered in alphabetical and
numerical order. The system also serves a useful purpose in the preparation of the
figures required to be supplied under the Act to H.M. Home Office each year, the
Register not being complicated with dead matter relating to previous years,
In the reference book for the year there are 4,941 entries relating to the work, and
3,507 notices were served.
