WASTING AND CONVULSIVE DISEASES OF INFANTS.
There were 821 deaths during 1884 amongst children under
one year of age from Wasting Diseases, or 40.6 per 1,000 of
registered births, and 262.2 per 1,000 of total deaths under one
year. This is in excess of the number of deaths during 1883.
There were also during the same period 179 deaths amongst
children under one year due to Convulsive Diseases, or 22.6 per
1,000 births, and 146.2 per 1,000 of total deaths at that age.
The following tables show the incidence of disease in the
different Sub-registration districts, but 2 deaths from Wasting
Diseases, and 4 from Convulsive Diseases, and 13 from "all
causes " under one year of age, cannot be referred to the districts
to which they belong. ( Vide Note, page 5.)
