Report of the Medical Officcr of Health. 87
11 of the cases under observation removed to other places
and the Medical Officers of Health of these were duly informed,
while nine cases notified in other districts were notified to me by the
respective Medical Officers of Health.
During the year 23 sputum flasks have been supplied, and two
were returned after the death of the patient. In 11 of the cases
visited the patients already had one, but in many cases the patients
objected to their use.
During the year disinfection was carried out at 371 premises
either after the death or removal of the patient, compared with
399 in 1914, and 420 in 1913. 65 of the premises disinfected were
in Clapham, 32 in Putney, 104 in Streatham, 50 in Tooting, and
120 in Wandsworth.
Tuberculosis Dispensaries.
It will be seen from the Report of the Tuberculosis Officer
that a very large amount of work has been carried out during
the year, although the absence of the Tuberculosis Officer on
military duty and the necessary alteration of the dispensary
arrangements resulted in a slight decrease in the number of cases
dealt with.
It is satisfactory to note that arrangements have now been
made by the London County Council for the treatment in sanatoria
of non-insured persons, adults and children, and 45 cases, 15 adults
and 30 children, have been admitted to sanatoria under the scheme
during the year.
The work done at the two dispensaries has been somewhat
less during the year 1915 than in the previous year. The number of
new cases examined during the year was 716, compared with 936
in 1913, and 971 in 1914. The total attendances at the two dispensaries
was 6,580, compared with 5,502 in 1913, and 7,657 in
1914.
