88 Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
On examination of Table XLVIII. the decrease will be seen to
be almost entirely at the East Hill dispensary, the new cases (tuberculous)
at Balham being 132, compared with 134 in 1914, the nontuberculous
new cases being 154, compared with 173 in 1914. In
attendances also the two years are very similar at Balham; in 1914,
2,801, in 1915, 2,726. The altered hours of attendance at East
Hill since August, 1914, probably accounts largely for the falling
off in numbers, patients now being seen in the mornings only, which
is not so convenient a time for families to come up as in the afternoon.
That this is so is shown by the decrease being almost
entirely in the non-tuberculous cases, who are principally contacts.
