It is now, however, generally recognised that what are entitled
the para-syphilitic diseases, as General Paralysis of the Insane and
Locomotor Ataxy, are later manifestations of Syphilis, and if the
number of deaths from these is taken as a criterion a more reliable
estimate may be arrived at.
In 1915, the number of deaths from General Paralysis was 26
and from Locomotor Ataxy eight, a total of 34, 30 of males and
four of females. In 1914 the number of deaths from General
Paralysis was 27, and from Locomotor Ataxy 10, a total of 37,
29 of males and eight of females.

The following Table shows the death-rate from Infective diseases for the whole Borough for the year, as well as for the five previous years. TABLE LVII.
