18 samples of milk were procured during the early morning
(from 3 to 4 a.m.), from wholesale dealers whilst delivering milk
to the retailer. Three samples were reported against as being adulterated
or not up to standard. In two cases the adulteration being
small no action was taken, while in the remaining case proceedings
were instituted, the vendor being ordered to pay costs.
13 samples of milk were procured on delivery at private houses,
three were reported as being adulterated, and in two cases proceedings
were taken and convictions obtained.

131 samples of milk have been taken on Sundays, either in the
early morning or at mid-day. 14 or 10.6 per cent. were reported
against as being adulterated, compared with 10 per cent, in 1912,
and 10 per cent, in 1911.
315 samples of milk were taken from milk vendors in the
street during the early mornings (i.e., 5 to 7 a.m.), on week days,
and of these 32 or 10 per cent. were reported against.
12 samples of milk were taken from automatic milk supply
machines four of them being reported against as deficient in milk
fat.
All four of these samples were taken fron one particular machine
on different dates. It was found on inquiry that this machine had
no plunger or means of stirring the milk in the container. I communicated
with the proprietor of the premises where the machine
