The Reading Rooms continue to be largely attended at all
times of the year, and the selection of periodical literature
provided appears to meet with general satisfaction. The rooms
are open on Sundays (except during the months of July, August
and September) from 3 to 9 p.m.
The work of painting the exterior wood and iron work of the
Balham Library and sundry repairs at the Tooting Library
received attention during the year.
The difficulties of administration arising from the present
insufficient accommodation at the Tate Library have for some time
past occupied the attention of the Sub.Committee. Unfortunately,
the Libraries Committee are unable at present to recommend the
Council to sanction the small loan that would be necessary to carry
out the Sub.Committee's proposals for enlarging the Lending
Department and providing the public with facilities for consulting
books of reference.
Signed on behalf of the Sub.Committee,
THOS. W. WATSON,
Chairman.
6th May, 1912.
