More detailed information respecting the stock is given in the
general table on page 206.
At the annual stocktaking in July the number of books which
could not be accounted for was four.
3.930 volumes were re.bound during the year. The constant
attention given by the staff to the repair of books tends largely to
keep down the expense of bookbinding.
Sir William J. Lancaster, J.P., has again manifested his kind
interest in the Tooting Library by presenting a copy of the " Victoria
History of Middlesex " to the Reference Department.
The cataloguing work at the libraries has
been specially heavy during the past year.
A new Subject.Catalogue, in dictionary form, of the books
in the Tooting Library was published in September.
The revision and renewal of cards in the card catalogues and
the re.cataloguing of the stock at the Tate Library have also
demanded close attention. The monthly lists of additions have
been posted regularly at each library.
