of the northern side of Streatham Common North with the eastern
side of Streatham High Road, as it appeared likely that an
application would be made for the County Council's approval of
plans for the development of the property, when the land needed
could probably be secured free of cost.
71. The London County Council also adhered to its refusal
to allow the Borough Council to form a proper footpath on the
western side of Streatham High Road where it abuts upon Streatham
Common.
72. These matters will continue to receive the attention of
the Borough Council.
73. The London County Council having adopted the Borough
Council's suggestion, mentioned in last year's report (page 55,
par. 71), that a widening of Streatham High Road, near the
Norbury tramway terminus, should be effected in connection with
the proposed erection of buildings there, the Borough Council
agreed to contribute one-third of the nett cost of the improvement.
The matter is now being dealt with by the County Council.
Summerstown
Improvement.
74. By arrangement with the owner, the forecourts of Nos.
46 to 60, Summerstown, Wandsworth, have been
added to the public way and a new footpath formed
and paved. The total cost of the improvement was £109 8s. 9d.
Road Board
Schemes.
75. The Council, at the invitation of the Road Board, submitted
the following schemes to the Board, and
asked what contributions under the provisions of
the Development and Road Improvement Funds Act the Board
would be prepared to make in respect of the cost thereof, in
the event of the Council deciding to carry out the work, viz.:—
(a) Trial of samples of road binding materials in Upper
Richmond Road, Putney, between Roehampton Lane and
Priory Lane, and the kerbing and widening of the footpath
on the northern side of the road (partly in Barnes District)
in connection therewith.
(b) Tar-spraying main roads in the Borough.
