Granite setts will be used for paving the whole width of the road
by the above-mentioned railway bridge. Arrangements have been
made for a double line of tramways to be laid, with the exception
of a short length near Brewhouse Lane. The County Council was
urged to construct this section also as a double line but, to the
regret of the Borough Council the County Council found it
impossible to adopt the suggestion. This is the only part of the
tramway constructed as a single line. One-third of the total nett
cost of the necessary widenings will be defrayed by the Borough
Council, and the County Council will contribute two-thirds of the
cost of the improvements recently carried out by the Borough
Council in Putney Bridge Road.

at Streatham Common which has not yet been carried out, owing
to the County Council not having given the necessary consent.
70. The London County Council having declined to give
permission to the Borough Council to round off the corner of
Streatham Common at the junction of Streatham Common North
and Streatham High Road, until the proposed improvement at
the opposite corner of Streatham Common North has been
effected, the Borough Council asked the County Council to carry
out the latter widening in accordance with the agreement entered
into between the County Council and the Borough Council in
connection with the construction of tramways along Streatham
High Road. The Borough Council was informed in reply that
the Improvements Committee of the County Council were of
