PUERPERAL FEVER.
During 1896 in Lambeth 12 deaths were registered from
puerperal fever (a disease of child-bed), as compared with
13 during 1895, and an annual average of 15.5 during the
last 10 years (1886—95).
19 cases were notified, giving a case mortality of 63.2%.
In London during 1896 there were registered 225 deaths out of a total of 279 cases notified, giving a case mortality of 80.7% (uncorrected).
