Typhoid Fever in a district is considered as a sanitary
index—the more typhoid, and the less sanitary the District,
and vice versa. On this assumption Lambeth shews, during
1896, a satisfactory return.
CONTINUED FEVER.
During 1896, 16 cases were notified in Lambeth, and 2
deaths registered, from Continued Fever as compared with
106 cases notified and 13 deaths (ie., 12.3% case mortality)
in London.
Typhus and Continued Fever are generally bracketted
with Typhoid under the heading "fever."
