Although the return is higher than usual, yet when we look to the period
1891-1902 it is seen that it is very low by comparison, for in that time the
smallest number of deaths registered was 93, whereas the average number was
155, or 95 above the present return.
There can be no doubt that this great decrease in the mortality is chiefly
due to the treatment of the disease with anti-toxin serum.
