Divided into legitimate and illegitimate, the figures for 1924 are
Legitimate—
Males 711-150 +212 = 773
Females 640-133+209 = 716
Total 1,351-283 + 421 = 1,489
Illegitimate—
Males 53-35+54 = 72
Females 43-26+46 = 63
Total. 96-61+100 = 135
There is a reduction of 93 in the net number of legitimate births
compared with the year 1923, and of 35 in the illegitimate births. The
decrease affects each of the districts into which the city is divided for
maternity and child welfare work. To the above figures there should
be added 3 foundlings, 2 males and 1 female, whose births were not
registered.
The notifications received numbered 1,250, of these 751 were received
from midwives.
The number of still-births notified was 36, but information was received
of 15 other still-births and miscarriages.
