It was necessary to take legal proceedings in 8 cases to
enforce the abatement of nuisances, and for contravening
Bye-laws; convictions were obtained in five of these cases,
work being done and costs paid; the summonses were withdrawn-in
the three remaining cases. The defendant appealed
to Quarter Sessions in one case, but the conviction
was upheld.
