house refuse were:—In the In-Wards, 982; in Grosvenor
Place District, 387; and in South Belgravia District, 728.

and to enforce the provisions as to cleanliness,
ventilation, drainage, &c.
There are 41 bakehouses on the register, of which 40
are in use; these have been inspected twice each during
the year, and the regulations as to cleansing observed.
Two bakehouses were transferred on the 9th November,
to the Borough of Chelsea, viz., 3, Pont Street, and 84,
Westbourne Street.
The provisions of the Factory and Workshops Acts have
been carried out, and cards showing the number of persons
who may be employed in each factory or workshop, and in
each room, have been distributed and hung up in conspicuous
places in the factories and workshops, and in most
cases in each room where work is carried on.
"The number of workshops and work-places inspected
was 112 and 436 visits made; of these, the sanitary arrangements
of 86 were found defective, the drains of 18
were repaired, and the drains of 36 reconstructed, the w.c.
apparatus of 45 premises were cleaned or repaired, and
14 additional w.c.'s were constructed.
"These 112 premises contained 260 work-rooms, 37 of
which were overcrowded, and 57 in a dirty and unwholesome
condition. There were 963 persons found employed
in these work-rooms, or 61 in excess of the accommodation,
taking 250 cubic feet as the minimum amount of cubic
space allowed for each person in such places."
There are now no cowsheds in the Parish.
There is now only one licensed slaughterhouse in the
Parish, and this has been regularly inspected and found to
be satisfactorily conducted.
