1 was referred to arbitration, 1 was allowed, and in the
3 remaining cases the Court fixed the Assessments at
figures below those adopted by the Committee, but in
excess of those desired by the appellants.
The Vestry were appellants to General Assessment
Sessions in one case, against a reduction made by the
Magistrates sitting in Special Sessions, and were successful
in their appeal.
Charities.
A copy of the account for the year 1875, submitted by
the Churchwardens, of the expenditure by the Rector and
themselves as trustees for Charities belonging to this Parish,
is printed in Appendix No. 5.
Sacramental Alms' Fund.—Parish Church.
The money collected at the Offertory of Holy
Communion, is under the control of the Rector and Churchwardens,
who dispose of it in monthly payments, of seven
shillings each, to about eighty poor and aged persons,
selected from the parochial district of the Parish Church.
The amount distributed during the past year (viz., from
Ascension Day, 1875, to Ascension Day, 1876) was
£325 17s.
