Sir,—
I beg to hand you my ninth Annual Report and particulars of the
work carried out; under the Bye-laws; Public Health (London) Act,
1891; and London County Council General Powers Acts, 1904 & 1907;
for the year ended 31st December, 1912.
Overcrowding
Many inspections were made at night time in the areas which were
known to be overcrowded. Cases were dealt with in the following
streets, during the year:—
Allanmouth Road. Mansfield Terrace.
Arcadia Street. Old Ford Road.
Bakers Alley. Park Street.
Beachy Road. Perring Street.
Broomfield Street. Ranwell Street.
Box Street. Ricardo Street.
Clifton Street. Rook Street.
Eastward Street. Ruston Street.
Elizabeth Cottages. Sabbarton Street.
Davis Street. Silver Lion Court.
Gale Street. Sophia Street.
Hawgood Street. Tidey Street.
Kerbey Street. Wyke Road.
Milton Road. Whitethorn Street.
Legal Proceedings
Throughout the year legal proceedings were twice instituted, in
order to secure the abatement of overcrowding.
Case No. 1 Man, wife and three children occupied an underground
room of 830 cubic feet, by day and night. The
space required was 1,400 feet. Fined 10s. and 23s. costs.
