Case No. 2 Man, wife and two children occupied a first floor
room of 760 cubic feet, by day and night. Space required
1,200 feet. As the family had removed the day previous
to the hearing, the magistrate suggested that the summons
be withdrawn.
Registration.
During the year 13 houses were added to the Register, bringing up
the total to 1,137.
Vermin in Rooms.
In many houses the gas pipes are fixed at the very top of the walls
and touch the ceilings, thus affording a "run" for vermin, obviously
making it difficult for tenants to get rid of them. Correspondence was
opened on this matter with the Gas Company, suggesting that the pipes
be fixed a few inches below the ceilings, to facilitate cleaning above
them, but the Company replied that they thought such an arrangement
would involve the risk of injury to the gas pipes.
