their names registered; and at some premises the sale of milk had
been discontinued. In their rounds the inspectors found shops where
milk was sold and the milk sellers were not registered.
BAKEHOUSES.
During the year the bakehouses were twice inspected, and the
notices as to limewhiting, &c., were served in those cases considered
necessary. At the time of the last inspection there were in Poplar
37 premises used as bakehouses and 8 either unoccupied or not used ;
in Bromley 49 used and 9 either unoccupied or not used.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES AND COWHOUSES.
The slaughterhouses and cowhouses in the parishes of Poplar and
Bromley were inspected previous to the owners applying to the London
County Council for the renewal of their licenses.

When the London Government Act came into operation (the Metropolitan Borough Councils to enforce the bye-laws) a list of slaughterhouses and cowhouses was received from the London County Council as follows :—
