HOUSING.
Supervision.—Apart from registration, annual cleansing, and sickness, 2,856 inspections were
made of registered houses during the past year, as compared with 2,430 in 1910. The nuisances
and infringements of by-laws discovered and dealt with in the course of all inspections are set
out in Table 47. A total of 2,023 notices of all descriptions (excluding cleansing notices) were
served last year (1,177 in 1910), including 361 "written intimations," 71 "statutory notices,"
1,374 notices under the various by-laws, and 196 under the London County Council (General
Powers) Acts, viz., 184 for verminous rooms (179 in 1910), 21 for additional water supply, and
12 with reference to dustbins.
