Corresponding rates (all causes) recorded in the six Special Areas at each age are given
below. Sufficient material has not yet been obtained to justify the inclusion of any figures
relating to the causes of death at each age in those areas.

Mortality among Illegitimate Children.—There were 64 deaths of such children recorded in
the Borough during the year, 14 of them being non-residents. Prom outlying districts 8 deaths
were returned, so that the corrected number of deaths was 58, 26 of the children being males and
32 females. In 1910 the corrected number of deaths was 50, 24 of males and 26 of females.
The 58 deaths included 49 of children under one year, 15 more than the number recorded
in the previous year. The infantile mortality rate among such children was 337 per 1,000 births,
121 in excess of the rate observed in 1910 and 110 in excess of the annual average for 1906-10.
Last year's rate was 220 per 1,000 in excess of the rate for legitimate children, but the greatest
difference between the two rates was exhibited in the case of females. (See below.)
