but a Health Visitor attends. They were primarily instituted as
weighing sessions only, to relieve the pressure of the increasing
numbers attending the afternoon centres. In the near future these
sessions will be provided with a doctor.
The ladies on these voluntary committees render the Borough
an invaluable service which is much appreciated by the Council.
All the expenses other than the rent of premises are undertaken by
the voluntary committees, including the stocking of the stands with
dried milk, cod liver oil, etc. A considerable amount of organisation
and effort is needed to run these centres as successfully as they are
and the increasing number of attendances made by the mothers with
their children is a striking tribute to the popularity of the Centres
and the excellence of the service rendered to the public by all
concerned.

V.—Artificial Sunlight Clinics.
In January, 1937, two Clinics a week on Monday and Thursdaywere
started at the Health Centre, Lewisham, for the administration
of Artificial Sunlight treatment, chiefly to children. Two carbon
Arc Lamps and one Mercury Vapour Lamp have been used. Two
Health Visitors holding the necessary Light Certificate have carried
out the treatments under the general supervision of the Assistant
