Another special feature was a display of paintings submitted by Islington school children
in a competition for posters on the theme of Home Safety. The paintings were judged by Mr K
Jameson, Art Inspector, London County Council, who considered that some exceptionally good work
had been done, and at a ceremony attended by the children and many of their parents and teachers
prizes in the form of National Savings Stamps were presented by Her Worship the Mayor It is of
interest to note that the paintings have since been displayed at various welfare centres within
Health Division 3 and in Islington Public Libraries.
