SECTION F—MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES
HEALTH PUBLICITY AND HEALTH EDUCATION
Elderly Persons' Welfare Services.
From time to time it had become apparent that the many health and welfare
services available for elderly persons were not very generally known within the
borough. The Public Health Committee, concerned that in these circumstances
there might be many old people not receiving the care they needed, authorised the
printing and distribution of an information card on these services. Copies of the
card were supplied to all members of the Borough Council, all local general practitioners,
local clergy, welfare and social organisations; and the information so
provided has been widely appreciated.
Posters, Leaflets and Publications.
During the year the Council entered into agreement with a billposting company
for a number of sites throughout the borough to be reserved for the Council's
billposting requirements, and the Public Health Committee arranged for the exclusive
use of seven of these sites, wholly or in part, by the Public Health Department. By
this means, health publicity is now reaching additional areas of the borough, and
further scope is provided for special campaigns.
