The distribution of leaflets through the Public Health Department, and from
time to time through other Departments of the Council, continued, and the monthly
journal of the Central Council for Health Education, "Better Health," also continued
to be distributed, from the Public Libraries and Town Hall counters at the
rate of 1,000 copies a month.
Film Shows.
Five remaining film shows of the 1956/57 autumn/winter series were given
during the first three months of the year. At each of these an introductory talk
was given by the Medical Officer of Health or Deputy Medical Officer of Health,
and the practice of including a full-length feature film in the programme was
continued.

The health films shown were as follows:-

Handbills for Cypriot Residents.
For some time the Medical Officer of Health worked in co-operation with the
Commissioner for the Government of Cyprus in connection with the welfare of
Cypriot residents in Islington. One result of this was an arrangement with the
Commissioner for translations of the National Association for the Prevention of
Tuberculosis leaflet "A Warm Welcome to a Cool Climate" to be made available
for distribution to Greek and Turkish speaking residents in the borough.
Distribution was effected through the Department's Public Health Inspectors
and domiciliary visitors, and copies were supplied for use by the Islington Chest
Clinic, the Mass X-ray Unit, Drayton Park, and the London County Council Health
Visitors. It is understood that the leaflets were also being distributed by the
Government of Cyprus.
