33 samples ot milk were submitted by the Inspector for bacteriological examination,
see page 47.
In addition to this work, Inspector Green made 982 visits under the Merchandise
Marks Act.
Prosecutions are included in the complete list (p. 77).
During- the year as formerly, where prosecutions were not taken for varying
reasons, such as the deficiency being perhaps slight, or the case being one of
neglect properly to mark the article, and the offender had not been previously
warned, etc., strong letters of warning were sent.
During the year 1935, 2 formal and 3 informal samples of cream were taken ;
all proved to be genuine.
A wide selection (the varieties numbering 116) of informal samples were taken
during the year, as these form the basis upon which information is obtained to enable
us to buy formal samples with a view to prosecution. The informal samples of
butter numbered 200, cheese 12, pepper 38, honey 10, sausages 5, olive oil 14, tea 54,
cocoa 26, coffee 18 and margarine 39.
During the year 1935 in addition to the samples taken and submitted to the
Public Analyst there was a total of 190 informal samples, which were examined by
Inspector Green. These informal samples comprised a number of varied articles.
