it is proposed to open a new business, each has been visited by the Superintendent,
the total number of visits for the year being 33.

THE MILK AND DAIRIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1922; THE MILK
(SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) ORDER, 1923.
During the year 1935 the following applications were made for licences under
the provisions of the above Order to enable the persons to sell Specially Designated
Milk :—

During the year one informal sample was taken under the above Regulations,
and found in order.

ADULTERATION OF FOOD AND DRUGS—FOOD AND DRUGS
(ADULTERATION) ACT, 1928.
During the year the number of Samples of Food and Drugs taken for Analysis
was 1,257, including 825 informal samples; all the purchases were made by Inspector
Green or his Agent and were submitted to the Islington Public Analyst, Dr. Alan
W. Stewart.
Of the total samples 1,247 were reported to be genuine and 10 adulterated, or
0.8 per cent.
This percentage is 2.2 below the previous year and 4.6 below the average rate
for the preceding 10 years.
There were 12 prosecutions under the Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act,
1928, 9 of which were successful,
