POPULATION (ESTIMATED).
The population at mid-year 1935, is estimated at 308,170* persons. A decrease
in the population of 13,625, when compared with the number of inhabitants ascertained
at the census in 1931.
MARRIAGES.
Marriages, 3,052 ; Marriage Rate, 19.8.—There were 6,104 persons
married, or 3,052 marriages in 1935, and the marriage rate, that is to say, the
number of persons married per 1,000 of the population was 19.8. Compared with
the previous year these figures show an increase of 346 in the number of persons
married, or of 173 marriages , and of 1.5 per 1,000 in the rate.
