In February, 1928, a communication was received from the Medical Officer of Health
of the London County Council respecting non-notified cases of encephalitis lethargica.
Information of four such cases in the Borough was forwarded in order that where the patients
were not of school age they could be kept under observation in the same way as notified
cases.

The following gives particulars of these cases: —

Acute Poliomyelitis and Acute Polioencephalitis.
One case of acute poliomyelitis or polioencephalitis was notified.
Fifty-one cases were notified in London, giving rise to four deaths.
From the coming into operation of the Poliomyelitis Order, 1912 to the end
of 1931, 16 cases were notified in the Borough.
