Typhus Fever.
No case of typhus fever was notified during the year in the Borough or in
London.
Cerebro-Spinal Fever.
One case of cerebro-spinal fever was notified in the Borough.
Two hundred and forty-seven cases were notified in London, giving rise to
148 deaths.
Bacillary Dysentery.
One case of bacillary dysentery occurred in a nurse at a hospital. Four other
cases were notified from the same hospital, all being in-patients, non-residents of
Holborn.
Malaria.
One case of malaria was notified. The patient had been residing in China and
was temporarily staying in Holborn before proceeding to America.
Encephalitis Lethargica.
One case of encephalitis lethargica was notified in the Borough during the year.
This case was not formally notified until after the death of the patient, but had
previously been included in a list of non-notified cases of the disease received from
the London County Council in February, 1928 (see below).

The following table gives information up to the end of 1931 respecting the 13 real eases of encephalitis lethargica notified in the Borough since the Public Health (Encephalitis Lethargica) Regulations came into force on the 1st January, 1919:—
